How to mute the Teams continuous dialling tone
Since last week’s Microsoft Patch Tuesday (or there abouts first week of January 2026), most of our customer service staff, when making an outbound TouchPoint phone call, the Microsoft Teams calling tone sound plays constantly, during the entire call, and continues after the call concludes. The user must quit Microsoft Teams using the system tray / notification area Teams icon to stop the calling tone sound.
Enghouse are aware of the issue and have engaged Microsoft for a resolution.
Their support team have been recently made aware of this issue affecting a few sites that have the MS Teams Client build 25332.1210.4188.1171 (Released December 21st 2025) and 26005.204.4249.1621 (Released January 16th 2026).
We have raised a Ticket with Microsoft last week under Microsoft #2601150040000235 as a High Priority. Our development team have escalated this with Microsoft and Microsoft have acknowledged the issue are our development team are following up with them for an update.
Workarounds offered by Enghouse…
This KB outlines how to implement option 5.
- Use the Touchpoint Web Client and do not install the Touchpoint Web Installer (which uses the auto answer).
- Clear MS Teams Cache (this is temporary, and the problem returns)
- Exit the MS Teams App completely (Sign out and Exit). Then use the MS Teams Web App.
- Modify the TouchPoint configuration so that TouchPoint no longer automatically answers the Teams call to initiate the outbound call. (this setting is sometimes ignored and the problem returns)
- Modify the Windows 11 Volume Mixer and Mute one of the MS Teams Instances.
Anthony has tested options 2 and 4. Although option 4, sometimes fails to work, requiring option 2 to be re-applied.
