SAP Business Objects is a software platform which provides reporting and analytics, commonly referred to as “Business Intelligence (BI)”.
Business Objects consists of a number of reporting applications:
• BI Launch Pad - User interface via a web browser to schedule and run reports
• Web Intelligence “Webi” – Web browser report builder
• Crystal Reports – Report designing tool
• Dashboards – Dashboard design tool
At CH2 nearly all of our reports in Business Objects source data from our “Data Warehouse”. This is a separate server which contains a copy of the JDE production database which is updated overnight.
The use of the data warehouse allows reports to run without impacting the JDE production database by slowing down day-to-day business transactions. It also allows us to run complicated reports quickly and more easily as the data warehouse database is designed purely for the purpose of providing data for reporting
